Key Differences & Identifying Features (Type 2 vs. Type 1)
Receiver: Transitioned from a costly milled steel receiver to a stamped sheet steel receiver to save production time and materials.
Pistol Grip: The sharply angled grip of the Type 1 was replaced with a more conventional, near-vertical wooden pistol grip.
Stock: Replaced the stamped metal stock with a solid wooden buttstock.
Bipod: The bipod attachment point was moved forward to the muzzle end (instead of near the receiver/gas block) and folded rearward along the handguard.
Controls: The combined safety and selector switch was separated into two distinct levers.
Ejection Port: Added a spring-loaded ejection port dust cover and a brass deflector.
