Centurion Arms is offering a depot-level armorer school covering the AR-15/AR-10 family of weapons. The course will be taught for Centurion Arms by Chris Bartocci from Small Arms Solutions with nearly 40 years of experience.

The 3 day (or 4, depending on range availability) classes will be held at Centurion Arms' manufacturing facility in Bargersville, IN. This will include a factory tour and time with retired Navy SEAL and CEO of Centurion Arms, Monty LeClair.

Instructor:

Chris Bartocci is a leader in the firearms industry with a 35+ year career. Chris is a former US Army member with 10 years as a forensic firearms examiner, worked for Colt Defense, Otis Technology, and LMT, and has consulted for many industry leaders such as ArmaLite, LWRCI, Centurion Arms, American Tactical, Diamondback Firearms, M+M Firearms, and Core Rifle Systems, and consulted for Picatinny Arsenal, to name a few.

Chris has conducted international and domestic armorer’s courses on the AR15/M16/M4 family of weapons and grenade launchers for military and law enforcement for Colt, LMT, and Small Arms Solutions. Also, for different companies, attended trade shows, weapon testing, and other weapon-related issues throughout the globe in 31 countries.

A very large part of Chris’s work is writing. He has written armorer, operator, and technical manuals for various companies, including Colt, LMT, and LWRCI. He is an accomplished author with over 200 publications in the AFTE Journal, Small Arms Review, Small Arms Defense Journal, American Rifleman, Shooting Illustrated, and others regarding modern military/LE small arms. He is the author of Black Rifle 2 (Collector Grade Publications)/America's Rifle (Small Arms Publishing) and co-authored Vickers Guide Vol 1 and 2 Revision 2, amongst others.

Course Detail:

  • Description, nomenclature and variations of the platform
  • Proper loading, unloading, and immediate action for clearing malfunctions
  • Ammunition explanation and effects on performance
  • Field strip, cleaning and lubrication
  • Cycle of Operations
  • Magazines
  • Inspection and function checks
  • Detail disassembly and description of all components 
  • Reassembly, including torque specification and Mil-Spec procedures
  • Repetitive processing for student familiarity
  • Troubleshooting and the process to understand and define what a malfunction is and what tools and components are needed to fix
  • After a lunch break, students will operate with forearms that have been purposely modified by the instructor(s) in order for students to perform detailed inspections and look for what is wrong. (If possible, this is done on a firing range.)
  • The final exam includes detailed disassembly and reassembly with instructor approval. The final exam is open manual.

  2. Students must bring their own rifle for the class. Must be AR-type design. It may be an internal or external piston. Can have 9mm but not preferred. Whatever your duty/primary weapon may be, this class will cover any manufacturer for the most part.
  3. Bring a cleaning kit with the proper solvent and CLP (G96, Slick2000, etc.). 
  4. Students are required to bring their own armorer tools
    • Roll pin punch set
    • Roll pin holders
    • Long straight-bladed screwdriver for pistol grip screw (or hex if that is what their own requires)
    • Bolt catch punch
    • Receiver extension nut wrench that fits your rifle
  5. Centurion Arms will provide the following additional tools:
    • Barrel nut wrench
    • Torque wrench
    • Staking punch for receiver extension
    • Gauges and spare consumable parts (roll pins, detents, end plates, buffer retainers, and springs...)
